✈ About us: We believe that aviation will be electric and we need to make this transition happen as soon as possible. Beyond Aero is making long range electric aircraft possible using hydrogen-electric propulsion. Our first aircraft is a zero emission private aircraft, designed for hydrogen propulsion.
In order to strengthen our Engineering team we are looking for a Lead Airframe / Aerostructures Engineer (d/f/m)
Responsibilities
Role: Lead the first Beyond Aero aircraft airframe architecture definition. You will report to the HO Vehicle & Airframe.
Your role will consist in:
- Study, compare and propose options for the aerostructure of Beyond Aero's first Hydrogen-Electric aircraft including all class 1 and 2 structual parts in fuselage, wings, doors, moveable parts, pylons, VTP, HTP.
- Perform trade studies, requirements derivation, and establish the overall airframe configuration based on requirements of global architecture.
- Lead the design of robust structural configurations that are cost effective and easy to fabricate, in concert with engineering & design team
- Liaise with stress engineers on pre sizing implementation
- Manage partners and suppliers selection process for airframe, with Program Manager and Head of vehicle
- Support manufacturing to validate and verify that designs meet requirements and specifications
- Accomplish deliverables associated with the airframe architecture for key program milestones, including design reviews, hardware deliveries, testing and certification milestones
- Ensure the aircraft airframe complies with certification and industry guidelines for FAA Part 23 and EASA CS 23 aircraft design
- Delegation of Authority to sign off drawings
- Lead a team of few internal or external CAD designers.
Job Requirements

Desired skills and qualifications:
- Team player
- Master’s Degree (or higher) in Aerospace, Mechanical or any other directly relevant engineering field required
- Experience in lightweight structures design (aircraft, spacecraft, other high-performance vehicles), in direct link with overall aircraft architecture, aerodynamics, advanced systems, processes qualifications, testing, certification manufacturing, with significant time in a lead role. Preferred experience with aluminium and CFRP composite (sandwich construction, AFP).
- Experience in CS23 / PART23 is a plus.
- Experience in design engineering using CATIA V5 / 3D experience and releasing in PLM like Enovia, VPM or 3D experience.
- Experience leading an airframe engineering team from scratch (Layout, Maturity A) through the full design cycle from concept definition, specification, design, integration, manufacturing engineering, manufacturing, testing, validation and certification
- Leadership and excellent communication skills, team spirit, empathy and experience leading and empowering teams of engineers
- Curious, autonomous, ambitious and willing to break codes / An attraction for entrepreneurship
Your location: You will be working at Beyond Aero office in Toulouse, France. Partial remote working is possible.
